Mainstream Fiber Networks Joins Statewide Fiber Collaborative

NASHVILLE, IND. – Mainstream Fiber Networks has joined Accord Telecommunications, a consortium of electric and telephone cooperatives, to expand broadband infrastructure and increase collaboration among internet service providers across the state. Mainstream is the first private ISP member to join the consortium of electric and telephone cooperatives.

“Bringing fiber optic infrastructure to Hoosiers across the state is no small task. It takes working together across public and private industries, and a partnership with the Accord will help us further connect to underserved areas of our state,” said Bryan Gabriel, CEO and founder of Mainstream.

Accord is a community-minded consortium leveraging the experience and history of 21 electric and telephone cooperatives. The consortium’s formation creates one of the largest contiguous fiber-based networks in Indiana.

“We are pleased to welcome Mainstream Fiber Networks into our growing network as our members work together to provide Hoosier communities access to reliable, high-quality fiber-based communication services,” said James Tanneberger, Accord Chair and President and CEO of South Central Indiana REMC.

Accord’s members currently own 20,000 miles of fiber optic infrastructure valued over one billion dollars.  Collectively, Accord’s members serve over 300,000 Hoosier homes and businesses with fiber-based services and electricity. With the addition of Mainstream, Accord will add another 2,650 miles of coverage to its network.

Mainstream currently serves communities in the southern, western and central portions of the state.
