2006 – 2011: Local Roots

The journey didn’t begin in a big-city boardroom, but in Nashville, Indiana. Founded in 2006 by Bryan Gabriel, Mainstream Fiber Networks originally launched as a local IT consulting firm. As a company of Hoosiers serving Hoosiers, the team spent these early years on the front lines of local tech, witnessing a growing digital divide: while major cities were surging ahead, Indiana’s rural hometowns were being left behind.

2012: The Brown County Breakthrough

By 2012, the "inconvenience" of slow speeds had become a crisis for the community. Brown County Schools faced a bleak reality—without a reliable high-speed connection, the school corporation was at risk of closing its doors.

Refusing to let that happen, Mainstream stepped in to build the solution themselves. This became our first major fiber-optic mission. By bringing fiber technology directly into the classrooms, we didn't just save a school; we helped raise test scores and revolutionized digital learning for every student.

2015 – 2019: Proving the Blueprint

The success in Brown County became the blueprint for our name. We believe high-speed internet shouldn’t be a "luxury"—it should be mainstream.

In 2015, we took that mission to the next level by partnering with the Harrison County Community Foundation. Together, we constructed a 115-mile fiber-optic loop, a massive undertaking that proved we could bridge the gap for small businesses, farmers, and families alike. This project allowed us to scale rapidly, eventually reaching over 8,000 homes in the region.

2020 – Present: The Next Level

Today, our mission is accelerated by partnerships with local leaders and Indiana’s "Next Level Connections" program. State funding has allowed us to complete projects faster and more effectively than ever before.

What started as an IT shop in Nashville has grown into a powerhouse serving 13 counties, including Bartholomew, Brown, Crawford, Harrison, Posey, and Washington.

Despite our growth, our headquarters remain right here in Indiana. We aren't just a utility provider; we are your neighbors, your coaches, and your community partners, still driven by the same goal we had in 2006: ensuring no community is left behind in the digital age.
